Dry Dock Repair Planning Study
The Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Jacksonville, Florida is performing a planning study for the critical repairs of a dry dock at their submarine maintenance facility at the King’s Bay, Georgia Submarine Base.
The scope of the repair work includes among other items, structural steel recoating and repairs, concrete repairs, upgrades to the power distribution systems, replacement of the pumping system and main dock doors that fill and empty the dry dock, replacement of the Auxiliary Seawater System, renovation of the chilled water system, upgrading of the firefighting system and refurbishment of the bridge cranes.
The preliminary construction costs for the repairs are estimated to be $140,000,000 and must be performed within a critical 12 month window of time to facilitate the maintenance of the U.S. Navy’s submarines.
Warner has been engaged by Hanscomb to develop a fully detailed, resource loaded, Primavera P6 feasibility schedule, using 24 hour per day, seven (7) days per week, multi-shift, and reduced four (4) days per year holiday calendar to help the NAVFAC determine the feasibility of performing the planned work in the limited time frame.
